Frequently asked questions
The short answers to giving, getting and reusing boxes.
Is GiveBoxes free?
Yes. It is free to list boxes, find boxes and contact a giver.
Do I need an account?
No. Givers post with a private email address, and getters can contact them directly from a listing.
What kinds of boxes can I post?
Any clean, dry and reusable cardboard boxes are welcome—including moving, shipping and delivery boxes. Do not list boxes that are wet, moldy or unsafe to reuse.
Does my exact address appear publicly?
No. Your listing shows only the general area you enter. You decide whether and when to share pickup details privately.
How do I get boxes?
Search your ZIP code, open an available listing and send the giver a pickup request. The giver receives your contact information and message privately.
Are boxes guaranteed to be available?
No. Listings come from people nearby, so availability changes. A listing may receive more than one request before the giver removes it.
How do I change or remove my listing?
Use the private listing link shown after posting and sent to your email. That link lets you manage the listing without an account.
Where should pickup happen?
Choose a time and place that works for both people. For safety, consider a public place or a contact-free pickup and avoid sharing more personal information than necessary.
